WELCOME TO STARLIGHT A sweet and sexy small-town romance series set at a family-owned pub in the picturesque snowmobiling town of Snowy Ridge, Wisconsin.
The weather may be cold outside, but things are sizzling indoors.
Jessie Foster has long been the person everyone could count on, the one who stayed back with her mom to run the family business while her two older sisters, whom hadn’t spoken to her in years, took off to live their lives. When her sisters suddenly drop back into her world wanting a job and a place to live, who could blame her for being angry? Sick of always doing what’s right, Jessie is ready to shake things up. Even if it’s wrong. And wrong has a name.
Enter the sexy Cade Stone, new to town and opening a snowmobile repair shop with his two equally hot brothers. Cade has an edge and a temper. He knows he’s a jerk 90% of the time and he’s generally unapologetic. Growing up in Chicago, he’d never dreamed he’d end up in the sleepy town of Snowy Ridge, population 1000. But somehow, he found himself caving to family pressure and doing “the right thing,” no matter how much he hated it.
Neither were looking, and they’re completely wrong for each other. But sometimes wrong and right blur and magic happens.

Looking for a new small town romance to lose myself in, I really was hoping for something more with this series. Since I live just over the border from Northern Wisconsin in the U.P., the snowmobile and tourist theme looked promising. This book was only okay. I would have given it 2.5 stars, not three, but it didn't quite warrant a 2. There are some glaring editorial mistakes: piece vs. peace, for example: "Luci looked toward the ceiling and licked her lips before meeting Jessie's gaze. "Ok, thanks for letting me say my peace." If the author meant to do this as a double entendre because Luci's a yoga loving, health-food nut, it fell short for me. I doubled back to read the sentence a few times, and I finally came to the conclusion that it should have been "piece". I usually DNF with mistakes like this, but I was interested enough in the story to keep reading.I also don't care much for closed door sex scenes (I mention this only for readers like me who want a little more spice), but that didn't deter me, either. The problem was I really didn't like the heroine, Jessie. She was too brash, too in-your-face, and extremely immature. I'm not sure why Cade would like her at all. The side plot of her sister's stalker was too distracting, as was the bar scene with her friend April (also very immature). Character development is very important to me. I want to like the main characters, but I didn't feel Jessie had many redeeming qualities, especially when she was yelling at her sisters and mother all the time. I also had a hard time swallowing some of the touristy references. I live in one of these small towns that deals with snowmobilers and skiers all the time, and this story wasn't quite realistic (it's fiction, yadda, yadda... still needs to be realistic). To be fair, I loved the scene where Cade hired a horse-drawn sleigh for a date with Jessie.
That being said, this wasn't the worst book I've ever read, and if this was the author's debut novel, she has potential as a writer. I like the concept of the three sisters coming together after years spent in angry silence because of a family crisis. The story just needs a little more depth and a lot more showing vs. telling. I plan on reading the next one in this series because I really liked Jessie's sister, Wynn, and since that's the next book, I'm willing to give the author another chance.

Coming Home Snowy Ridge Love at Starlight Book 1 eBook Kris Jett Reviews
The book was described as 'sweet', which is usually code for 'lacks overt sex'. Perhaps the book doesn't have blatant sex scenes, but it has other things that would deter most readers seeking a 'sweet' book. Starting with the f-bomb in the first paragraph. There may be no descriptions of people having sex, but the characters sure think about it a lot. There's the best friend, who looks around a crowded bar and observes that she's had sex with every man there. The sister who sleeps with the main character's boyfriend. And the mom who brings in the two older daughters and lets them step in as equal partners in running the pub, despite the fact they ran off 6 years ago and it's the main character who stayed and did all the work. It's the most dysfunctional family since Game of Thrones. Not anything sweet about it at all. No one's particularly likeable, except maybe Melody, the toddler.
First I will admit that I was having a hard time with this book. I guess I carry a grudge more than others. I liked the plotline and it sounded like a good read. I could relate to the little sister having a hard time forgiving the two older sisters part in tearing their family apart. This is probably going to mostly be SPOILERS so you may not want to read. First one sister has sex with her boyfriend that she had been going with for some time. As much his fault as hers but still it is your sister and there should be more loyalty. Then the older sister has met a guy on-line and thinks she has found the love of her life. He comes to visit and he starts making a play for the heroine. She turns him off. The sister sleeps with him, gets pregnant and never hears from him again and this is the heroine's fault!? I don't get that. No matter neither sister is speaking to her and they both leave town leaving her to take care of the mother and the pub. Then after over 6 years the sisters decide to return home with their tails between their legs and wanting mommy to take them in and give them a job in the pub. For me, MOTHER had no loyalty to the daughter that stayed behind and helped save the business and is now running most of it.
Oh no, she wants the loyal daughter to just bend over and let the other two take a swift kick and she should then thank them. This hit to close to home for me to be objective. Then the ass that slept with her sister returns to town and wants to take up where they left off. So, she and her best friend hit the local bar, she gets smashed and winds up in his bed after he picks her up at the bar.
Ok, that was it for me. I have zero respect for this heroine! Good grief he sleeps with your sister and then 5 minutes after he shows up back in town you are willing to get drunk and wind up in his bed? OH NO SHE DIDN'T, but she did and the next morning he acts as though they are back together and all is well with the world. First of all, I have a problem with young women going to a bar, getting drunk on their butt and then picking up the first guy that looks at them. Immature idiots. This book definitely was not for me. I think it might appeal to a much younger set that sees this as a way of life rather than a problem.
The mother got on my last nerve. So typical though, no loyalty to the daughter that stood beside her but yet wants her to kiss and make up because she wants her daughters home and they are family. Well family certainly put the screws to her.
There was another strange thing with this download. It downloaded with half the pages highlighted and then there would be a regular page then more highlighted. It was hard for me to read. I even had a guy check it to see what was wrong and he was completely stumped. I'm sure this was probably an thing but no need to fix as I don't intend to read any more.
The crowning blow was in reading other reviews they stated there was an "abrupt ending". Nice way to say CLIFFHANGER. That is a big problem for me as well. So, I'm going to move on from this one. If you are on the fence deciding whether to get or not, I would suggest you just get it and decide for yourself. My issues certainly may not be yours.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
