When I look for a music book, I want to know what is inside. When I go to the store, I can look at the table of contents and flip through to see the complexity of the music, whether I can play it or not. I am an intermediate pianist, but that term is not uniform across the industry, not just in books like these, but in piano lesson texts. What is this book? Early intermediate, intermediate, late intermediate early advanced? What songs are in it? This doesn't just apply to this music book, but all of them.
he arranges beautifully and honors music and songs with respect he does not belittle even simple melodies, but treats each motif with honor. This product is one of many wonderful collections.

Church pianist claims to me that Mark Hayes is awesome with his arrangements!! Also got the one with the Jazz Hymns. Fabulous!
I own an extensive library of piano music, and there are a few arrangers whose work I especially enjoy playing. Mark Hayes is at the top of that list. I just received this new book last week, and I couldn't be happier. Every single piece in the book is a joy to play. Some are very serene, and some are fun, but all are delightful to play and very attainable by the late intermediate player. Each one offers the brilliant techniques that Mark Hayes always brings to his pieces. If you have never tried his work, you will be delightfully surprised. For an intermediate book, the pieces are surprisingly lush and full, with interesting rhythms. I only wish he had out more books at this level....I'd love to see a patriotic book by him.
Good selection. Wish I had been able to see a table of contents ahead of time. Would have still bought this however.
Love these Intermediate collections by Mark Hayes. They sound great without being too difficult to prepare.
